AOKZOE A1 Pro gaming console to feature Ryzen 7 7840U Zen4 & RDNA3 processor

AMD Ryzen 7 7840U coming to more devices

Another handheld gaming console with AMD’s flagship low power APU.

The AOKZOE A1 Pro is the upcoming handheld console featuring 8-core and 16-thread Ryzen 7 7840U. This has now been confirmed by multiple Geekbench listings discovered by Twitter user “Olrak29”. This product is yet another console now mentioned to feature AMD Phoenix APU, and it almost feels like this list is growing by the day.

AMD’s low-power Phoenix APU with 8 cores is said to have a base clock of 3.3 GHz and (what is new) a boost clock up to 5.05 GHz. This means that the boost clock will be very close to what Ryzen 7 7840HS is said to offer (5.1 GHz), but the base clock will be 500 MHz lower.  The APU packs 12 RDNA3 Compute Units which are marketed as Radeon 780M integrated graphics.

Thus far, AMD Ryzen 7 7840U is confirmed for the upcoming GDP Win Max. However, ASUS is also working to bring the ROG Ally console to the market equipped with the most powerful Ryzen APU. The custom chip used by the ASUS console is quite possibly using similar, if not the same silicon, but it may feature some minor changes implemented for ASUS on request. Meanwhile, AOKZOE and GDP are still not that big in the market to dictate to AMD what to design, so instead they will rely on an official chip, although technically speaking it is not yet ‘official’.

In terms of performance, the AOKZOE A1 Pro will be visibly faster than its predecessor based on Ryzen 7 6800U (Zen3+). There is at least 20% increase in multi-threaded performance and 25% better single-thread score (comparing best-to-best).

AOKZOE are now recruiting gamers for their internal test of the A1 Pro console. The company is not yet confirming which APU this device uses, but the cat is already out of the bag.
