Intel delaying desktop Arc A-Series (again)?

There is a new report on Intel desktop Arc Alchemist GPUs from “Enthusiastic Citizen”, who shared confidential and accurate Intel information in the past. 

Although we are past the official launch of Intel Arc mobile GPUs, the desktop implementation of the Xe-HPG architecture can still only portrayed through a domain of rumors. Intel has been very reluctant to share any official information on their desktop series, although the company did tease a “Limited Edition” of a graphics card coming this summer.

Yesterday, we have learned about Arc A770 desktop graphics card, which was leaked through Geekbench entry. What that entry told is that Intel is preparing a part with a boost clock up to 2.4 GHz and 12.7GB of memory. Such part and three other SKUs are mentioned by the leaker in a message that was posted a few days ago and spotted by Wccftech today:

First and foremost, the leaker says that there is another delay for desktop Arc launch till late Q2 or early Q3. After all, Intel only confirmed it will be launching ‘Limited Edition’ this summer, with no confirmation of any other desktop part for this period. Given how poorly the mobile Arc A-Series launch was executed (it is still exclusive to one country after 2 weeks since being officially ‘available now’), one simply cannot believe anything Intel has to say about their Arc launch schedule anymore. With that in mind, rumors about desktop delay make a lot of sense.

The leaker also mentions that there are four desktop parts planned, with a possible 5th variant launching later. The Arc A770, A750, A580 and A380 desktop SKUs are mentioned, with A770 leading the way with RTX 3060 Ti-like performance. It is believed that Intel might be launching an even faster part, but this is probably where the “Limited Edition” comes in. It is said that the A770 actually has less than 16GB memory, so 12GB/10GB would be on a table. Yesterday’s leak did suggest, though, it might be a 16GB graphics card. So clearly, there is still a lot of confusion surrounding this SKU.

Interestingly, “Citizen” reveals Intel plans for a part called Arc A750. One could expect this SKU to feature 448 Xe Vector Engines (Execution Units), as teased through numerous leaks in the past (some originating at Intel). This part, along with A580, would feature 8GB GDDR6 memory. The slowest desktop part, known as A380 would offer Radeon RX 6400 performance, the report claims.

What the report is missing is the information on the “Limited Edition”. This part is clearly equipped with eight GDDR6 memory modules, therefore 16GB memory is seemingly confirmed. This could either be the rumored A780, or a special edition of A770 with more memory.
