MULTI-DEVICE 2.0

Multi-device has obviously changed the way you use WhatsApp: your phone does not need to be connected to the Internet and you can still use WhatsApp from WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp Desktop, Portal. It’s possible to link your WhatsApp account to 4 devices and 1 phone right now, but things are going to change in the future!
After publishing the first exclusive screenshot from WhatsApp for iOS, where we have shown the possibility to link WhatsApp for iPad to your main device, today we’re going to show more:

Do you recognize this screen? It’s the same screen that appears when you open WhatsApp Web/Desktop if you joined the multi-device beta program. You can understand that you will be finally able to use WhatsApp on a second mobile device.
When you open WhatsApp on the second mobile device after some time, WhatsApp will download all messages from the server and this does not require your main phone to be connected to the Internet.
When you link your second mobile device the first time, WhatsApp will sync the chat history: this process is obviously end-to-end encrypted.
It’s not yet clear if WhatsApp will reserve this feature only for tablets (WhatsApp for iPad and Android tablets) or mobile phones are included, but there is no evidence that they will exclude mobile phones.
This feature is under development on WhatsApp beta for iOS, but WhatsApp is also working on it on WhatsApp for Android as well. Unfortunately, there isn’t a known release date for this feature.
