Intel Panther Lake to enter labs in Q1 2024
The CPU maker has confirmed its next-gen client CPUs are on schedule.
Intel has officially confirmed that the Meteor Lake (Intel 4 process) CPU series is set to hit the market on December 14th. However, Intel has an ambitious roadmap planned for consumers over the next two years, featuring a diverse lineup that includes the Meteor, Arrow, Lunar, and Panther Lake series. Some of these series were discussed during an Innovation keynote hosted by Pat Gelsinger.
Intel has already showcased the Lunar Lake architecture alongside some cutting-edge deep learning-based software for generative AI. Lunar Lake is poised to be the next-generation low-power architecture, scheduled for release following Arrow Lake, the second generation of the Core Ultra series. Unlike Lunar Lake, Arrow Lake (using Intel 20A process) is expected to encompass both desktop and mobile CPU series, with a primary focus on delivering higher power and performance. The Lunar Lake demonstration aimed to highlight the efficiency of AI acceleration on this low-power architecture.

Intel has officially announced that Panther Lake is slated for production in Intel fabs as soon as the first quarter of 2024. This marks a significant milestone as Panther Lake represents Intel’s inaugural 18A client CPU series, which is speculated to incorporate the Cougar Cove P-Cores. While Intel has not divulged specific details about the series, it’s worth noting that Panther Lake is poised to make its debut across both desktop and mobile segments, and it is expected to utilize the same LGA-1851 socket as Arrow Lake for desktop configurations.
