Intel Meteor Lake to surpass 5.0 GHz frequency
According to renowned hardware leaker Golden Pig Upgrade, the upcoming Intel Core 7 and Core 9 Ultra series will be able to surpass 5.0 GHz clock speeds.
Intel’s highly-anticipated mobile series based on the Meteor Lake architecture is set to deliver a significant boost in clock speeds. “Golden Pig Upgrade” confirms that Intel has successfully overcome hardware limitations, allowing them to launch a new mobile architecture with clock speeds surpassing 5 GHz.
According to rumors, the Core 7 Ultra series will achieve a clock speed of 5.0 GHz, while the more powerful Core Ultra 9 series will go even higher. Although exact details about the upper limits of Meteor Lake’s clock speeds remain undisclosed, these revelations debunk earlier speculation about potential clock-related issues.

The existing Raptor Lake CPUs have already surpassed the 5.0 GHz mark in many instances. The highest-performing mobile CPUs, the Core i9-13900HX and Core i9-13900H boast an impressive 5.4 GHz clock speed. The true mobile variant, the Core i7-1370P, which Meteor Lake should be replacing, already reaches 5.2 GHz.
It’s essential to note that Meteor Lake’s CPU clock claims pertain only to the Performance cores, leaving the efficiency of the smaller cores yet to be revealed. The upcoming mobile update from Intel will leverage the Intel 4 process node and integrate Redwood Cove (Core) and Crestmont (Atom) CPU architectures. Additionally, a third ultra-low-power core will be situated on a separate die, but Intel may not count these cores in the overall core count.
The much-anticipated architecture is slated for launch by the end of this year, powering the next generation of high-end laptops. Moreover, it will introduce a new GPU architecture known as Xe-LPG, derived from Alchemist. Expect Intel to officially announce its new mobile chips at the Intel Innovation event scheduled for September.
