AMD A620, budget motherboard with DDR5 memory
It appears that AMD may soon launch its entry-level A620 chipset.
We have the first photographs of the upcoming ASRock A620 motherboard. This is the upcoming AMD chipset that will accompany B650 and X670 series, with a goal to lower the entry cost into the AM5 platform.
The most important information is that the A620 series will not support PCIe Gen5 devices, so users should be aware that there is no upgrade path to Gen5 graphics or Gen5 storage on these boards. However, with no Gen5 GPUs in sight and low availability of Gen5 storage, gamers should feel no pressure on their shoulders.
AMD A620 platform could be a perfect fit for Ryzen 7000X3D series. One should remember that AMD CPUs with 3D V-Cache are not designed for overclocking, and some SKUs even operate at lower TDP than then 7000X siblings. That said, the motherboard does not need a powerful VRM to drive that extra power.

ASRock is preparing a motherboard called A620M-HDV/M.2, which is a Micro-ATX form factor with one PCIe Gen4 x16 slot and two DDR5 DIMM slots. The A620 series will be AMD’s first entry-level chipset to support DDR5 memory. AMD Ryzen 7000 series does not officially support DDR4 technology, so there was not much of a choice. However, the cost of DDR5 memory has decreased significantly over the past few months, especially for the 4800 MT/s kits.

As for the launch date, AMD never confirmed their plans for the A620 chipset, however we have seen reports that may suggest it will launch next month.
