Unreal Engine 5 Breaking Bad

With so many movies and TV shows to video game adaptations, it's really surprising that a game based on Breaking Bad has been produced so far. While the series may not be the easiest to properly turn into a video game, an open-world game in the vein of the Grand Theft Auto series would look incredible, especially if powered by modern technology like Unreal Engine 5.

A few days back, TeaserPlay shared a new video showcasing a fan concept for an open-world game based on the popular franchise, detailing its creation in Unreal Engine 5.2, the tech used, which includes Lumen, Nanite, and Metahuman, which allowed for the creation of the impressive Walter White model showcased in the video.

While major development studios still have to release games powered by Unreal Engine 5, smaller developers have already done an excellent job showcasing what the latest version of the engine by Epic is capable of, releasing impressive tech demos as well as recreations of iconic titles, such as Dark Souls III.

The latest major game powered by Unreal Engine 5 is Layers of Fear, a remake of the two entries in the series by Bloober Team. While the game doesn't use every feature of the engine, it is still an excellent showcase of what is capable of doing, as I highlighted in my review.

They say an artist's work is never truly done, but with Layers of Fear, Bloober Team and Anshar Studios have completed the Master Opus started back in 2016. With superb UE5 powered visuals, improved writing and some new gameplay mechanics, these journeys into the darkest recesses of the human mind have never been so immersive, although some issues prevent Layers of Fear from being an absolute masterpiece.
