iPhone third-party battery update error data collection: iFixit investigation

Some iPhones with third-party batteries can’t update over the air. Apple support is telling people who encounter the problem (like iFixit user TheLidlMan) that they should’ve gone through Apple for repair—but that’s a cop out answer.

So we’re coming to you to figure out which phones are having this problem and get to the bottom of it.

Have you replaced the battery on an iPhone, and then, when you've tried to update the phone later, gotten an error like this?

“Unable to Verify Update: iOS XX.X.X failed verification because you are no longer connected to the Internet.”

If so, please let us know via this form.
