PowerStar CPU is Intel’s after all

The cat is out of the bag.

According to the latest entry to Geekbench benchmark database, the just-announced PowerLeader PowerStar P3-01105 is in fact based on Intel silicon. The CPU does have a different name, but underneath the rebranded heatsink one will actually find the Intel Comet Lake CPU.

It was speculated that the PowerStar P3-01105 CPU may actually be a Core i5-10105 processor, given it has very similar specs and name. According to the data reported by Geekbench, the CPU family ID has been detected as Comet Lake (aka Intel 10th Gen Core family) of CPUs.

The PSTAR P3-01105 offers four cores, 3.7 GHz base clock and 4.4 GHz boost clock. The CPU has 6MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 65W. The specs and performance match Intel’s 10th Gen Core i3 CPU.

The company has an ambitious goal of selling 1.5 million Powerstar CPUs, but it was not mentioned if Intel sales would be included as well. Should that be a thing, then PowerStar’s roadmap may actually be fulfilled. The plan is to sell those CPUs exclusively with full systems, and are no plans to sell PowerStar chips through the DIY (retail) market.
