Alleged Intel Core i7-14700K processor is 17% faster than 13700K in CPUZ/Cinebench multi-threaded tests

Intel Core i7-14700K tested in Cinebench and CPU-Z

It appears that the next-gen desktop update is nearing its release.

Hardware leaker @wnxod published what it claimed as the benchmark of Core i7-14700K processor, supposedly featuring a configuration of 8 Performance cores and an undisclosed number of efficient cores. However, previous reports claimed that this part might have 12 Efficient cores.

The CPU is not yet recognized by any software, but it is identified as Raptor Lake HX/S die. The CPU-Z output indicates that the CPU can reach up to 5.5 GHz, which is only 100 MHz more than Core i7-13700K, but the alleged increase in core count should matter more.

If this score is genuine, it would mean that the Core i7-14700K gets 905 points in CPU-Z single-core test and 14965 in multi-threaded. The Cinebench R23 test gives 2192 points and 36296 points respectively. Here is how it stacks up against the existing Core i7-13700K with 8 Performance and 8 Efficient cores.

  • Cinebnech: +4.2% (ST) & +16.9% (MT)

The refreshed Raptor Lake series’ Core i7-14700K boasts a significant boost in multi-threaded performance, but single-core performance is often more important and this only improves by 4%. However, we don’t know if this is the final version of the processor, or how compatible it is with existing motherboards.

Intel Raptor Lake Refresh is now expected to launch in October. The first wave of new Intel CPUs will focus on the K-series SKUs including this Core i7-14700K model.

A post on Chinese Baidu forums reveals the expected configuration of the Core i7-14700K desktop CPU from a Windows Task Manager output. The CPU has 20 cores and 28 threads in total, the same as the mobile Core i7-13850HX CPU. However, this is clearly not a mobile CPU because the base clock is much higher (3.4 GHz vs. 2.1 GHz). If this is the base clock of the 14th Gen Core CPU, it would mean that this model has not changed its base clock from the previous generation.
