Early engineering sample of Intel’s future processor spotted in the wild

The desktop platform known as Meteor Lake-S might have been scrapped, but it appears that the engineering samples, which were already manufactured, have now emerged on the black market, as anticipated. The very first picture was shared by @wnxod.
The image above is purported to be the initial glimpse of the LGA-1851 CPU. This particular socket was intended by Intel for its upcoming series of desktop CPUs. The CPU depicted in the image is part of the Meteor Lake-S family, one of those canceled CPUs, as confirmed by HKEPC who have also shared the picture.
The CPU, designated with the code QDF4, signifies that it’s a very early sample that predates the engineering sample (ES) stage. It might even be non-operational at this point. It boasts a configuration of 6 Performance cores and 8 Efficient cores, aligning with information shared by other sources – this configuration matches the maximum expected setup for this platform.

Confirmation that the CPU is utilizing the LGA-1851 socket comes from its identical package size to that of the LGA-1700 socket, albeit with fewer notches. This discovery was made by @harukze5719, who is utilizing socket design materials leaked by Igor’sLAB.
This particular CPU may never reach the market, however LGA-1851 socket will still prevail and will be used by next-generation Arrow Lake series in 2024.
