The company is showing a new laptop at Computex, which is now confirmed to feature Intel’s unreleased Meteor Lake CPU.

Notebookcheck discovered that one of the new systems in the MSI booth features an undisclosed Intel CPU. The product named Prestige 16 is based on Meteor Lake architecture, this is confirmed by the device’s task manager and quickly edited press release.

Intel did not have a separate public event for Computex this year, but the company had invited some members of the media for a showcase of the next-gen client platform for laptops. The product codenamed “Meteor Lake” will feature a dedicated VPU AI processor (Versatile Processing Unit) and the company sees a great opportunity in using this core for modern AI-supported tasks.

One of MSI’s upcoming systems at Computex is the Prestige 16 EVO/Studio, which was shown at the booth this year. A closer look confirmed that this is a new chassis and clearly not based on anything Intel currently sells. In fact, Notebookcheck crew were quick to notice that the task manager shows “Genuine Intel(R) 0000” name for a CPU, which usually means an engineering sample.

However, this still does not confirm what architecture is used, so a quick check on the physical and logical count confirms this is a new CPU with 16 cores and 22 threads. The current lineup based on the Raptor Lake series goes up to 20 threads, so this must be the same CPU that Intel has been showing during a nonpublic demo earlier this week. Such part would feature 6 Performance, 6 Efficient (CPU) and 2 Efficient (SoC) cores.

In case that wasn’t enough of a confirmation, MSI also made the mistake of sharing the non-final revision of the press release. It was possible to see the changes applied by the MSI team, who had removed references to Intel 13th Gen Core series and Core i7 SKUs naming. As it is now confirmed, Intel will be introducing a new naming schema for its Meteor Lake mobile series, such as “Core Ultra 7 1003H”.

According to MSI, this laptop will be introduced in the fourth quarter, which aligns with Intel’s plans for the Meteor Lake notebook series.
