There are other companies coming out with foldable phones and doing it better than Samsung has done, and the Honor Magic V2 is just another example of how the South Korean tech giant may have lost its way because the phone does everything and more.

Honor finally unveiled the Honor Magic V2 today in China, and it comes with a lot of things that we would want in a foldable. If you have been looking for a high-end foldable flagship, then I don't think it gets better than this because, at the time of writing, this phone does deliver some serious horsepower.
For starters, the Honor Magic V2 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the overclocked variant found in Samsung phones in the past. You are also getting 16 gigs of RAM and 256 gigs of internal storage as the base variant. If you want to spend more money, you can get 16 gigs of RAM and 512 gigs of storage. The price is the star of the show because both variants cost less than the Galaxy Z Fold 5's base price when it eventually launches. You can pick up the latest foldable at CNY 8,999 (approximately $1,251) and CNY 9,999 (approximately $1,390).
The Honor Magic V2 comes with a 6.43-inch OLED screen with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It is HDR10+ certified and one of the brightest at nearly 2,500 nits. Unfolding the device reveals a 7.92-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10 certification, and 1,600 nits of peak brightness. The internal screen has a nearly invisible crease, and both screens have full support for an active stylus, making it an exceptional tool for those who want creativity.
The Honor Magic V2 uses a titanium alloy hinge along with a magnesium alloy frame, allowing the phone to not only be thinner but also lighter. It weighs just 231 grams, which is three grams lighter than the Galaxy S23 Ultra. You are also getting a device that is just 9.9mm thin when folded. Sadly, you are not getting any water resistance, so keep that in mind.
Taking care of optics on the Honor Magic V2 is a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 20-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 3x optical zoom. On the front, you will find a 16-megapixel camera. On the side, there is a fingerprint sensor, and powering the device is a massive 5,000 mAh battery with 66-watt fast charging as well as wireless charging. The phone has gone official in China and will be available to purchase later this month; hopefully, we will see the phone launching in global markets as well, where it will have a massive fighting chance against Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 5.
