Meet the crowd! Over the weekend, I attended the E BIKE DAYS München powered by Burgenland in splendid weather. During the three-day show, over 1000 test bikes by more than 150 bike brands stood waiting to be taken for test rides by the 75.000 attendees. And FAZUA was right there in the middle of it all. Testivals are the perfect platform for us as an ingredient brand, too. Why it's so important to me to personally attend the key industry events on a regular basis? ➡️ Networking There’s nothing quite like testivals to touch base with your target audience. Conversations I have at these events are as inspiring as the crowd is diverse. From retailers to consumers to industry insiders – the casual atmosphere facilitates an open dialogue, yielding valuable insights. ➡️ Gathering feedback In order to deliver on our promise of continual improvement, gathering feedback is crucial. Listening to real use cases broadens the horizon and helps us keep making better and better products. ➡️ Meeting culture Meeting our OEM partners outside of conference rooms is a valuable experience that strengthens our customer relationships. ➡️ Test rides The test tracks around Olympic Hill provided the ideal terrain to take the new e-bike models for a spin and experience firsthand what’s new in the industry. ➡️ Feeling the industry pulse For me, bike events are always a good opportunity to stay on top of the latest trends. Especially considering the challenging weeks and months we’ve just had, it was refreshing to see that interest in everything bike and e-bike remains unbroken. That is an extremely uplifting takeaway. Inside Porsche eBike Performance: Creating Passion We have spent the last few weeks working tirelessly on one project: drafting our #vision and #mission statement. To that end, Simon Hess, Director Strategy Business Development, and his team set up a number of talks, workshops and other meetings with internal and external partners. Based on available market data, they analyzed the bike industry as well as adjacent industries in search for a comprehensive answer to two key questions: What is it that makes Porsche eBike Performance what it is? What is the value that we create and for whom? The two conceptual clusters that emerged were sustainability and e-biking fun. These will play a crucial role alongside the product itself and the associated finances. And, of course, we wanted to incorporate our unique setup: the fact that we are a creative and dynamic startup on the one hand and part of a larger global player with stringent quality and process standards on the other. Connections that move the world   In a world that is growing more digital, more interconnected and also more volatile, international networks are taking on an ever more crucial role. They are invaluable and in many cases the key to success:  Being exposed to varying perspectives and diverse cultural influences broadens the mind. Through collaborations with people from different countries and industries, innovative ideas emerge and creative solutions can be developed.   Last week, I had yet another opportunity to see the value of such a strong network when I visited Porsche Asia Pacific Pte Ltd in Singapore.   Together with Hannes R. (Managing Director at Porsche Asia Pacific Pte Ltd) and his team, we discussed the state of #electromobility in Asia.    ➡ What does the development of the e-bike market look like?  ➡ What opportunities arise from this development?    Even though regulations for e-bikes in these markets are still very restrictive, we were able to identify concrete potential for Porsche eBike Performance. Together, we defined a solid milestone plan combining the launch of the first Porsche e-bike generation with the unveiling of our own drive system. These valuable insights will allow us to tap a new market segment as an ingredient brand. Key strategy – Internationalization One of the main objectives we have set ourselves for the coming years is creating sustainable growth for our business. We have long been present with our FAZUA brand in many European countries as well as North America, Australia and New Zealand. 🌍 Recently, we have also broken into the British market – in close collaboration with Upgrade Bikes. The experienced distributor handles the entire aftersales fulfilment and any warranty claims. We see strategic partnerships as an important key to success because local players know the ins and outs of their domestic markets, can rely on existing networks thus helping us spread our risk. All of this makes us more competitive. 2024 – here’s to new opportunities    2023 was a challenging year in several respects, no two ways about it. All the more reason for the entire Porsche eBike Performance team to launch into the new year with fresh energy. Taking a step back in regular intervals is not only important to stay mentally fit, it also gives us the much-needed opportunity to tackle projects with fresh eyes and a clear head.     After the first few days back at the office, one thing is crystal clear. 2024 is going to be a decisive year for Porsche eBike Performance. Many #projects and #milestones are on the agenda – the first of which we have already reached in January.    ➡️ We have finalized our #roadmap for 2024 – in the second week of January, we met with our shareholders in the Alps to set the course for this coming year.    ➡️ Our expansion #strategy continues uninterrupted – an important component of which is choosing a new manufacturing site. We will make this decision soon so that our production capacities can be brought in line with the targets we have set ourselves.    ➡️ Unbridled #innovation – in the coming months, our development team will continue to focus on our #Porsche drive unit. We are looking to send out the first B-samples bit by bit.    ➡️ 100 is the figure of the month. Retail is key For us, there is one touchpoint that plays a crucial role in the customer journey, and that's specialist #bike retailers. At their retailer of choice, customers benefit immensely from the staff’s expertise and the individual consultation offered. In after-sales, too, retailers play an important role by offering repair, maintenance and other customer services. And last but not least, as #entrepreneurs, retailers support the local #economy by creating jobs. At FAZUA, we already offer an extensive portfolio of support options available to bike retailers: ➡️ In the past 12 months, our field support was able to reach more than 3,500 dealers and their employees through a variety of activations. ➡️ Eight countries – 50 stops: through our European training program, we are looking to get in touch with as many retailers as possible. ➡️ At the start of the second quarter, we launched the FAZUA Dealer Portal, a digital training platform offering gamified knowledge transfer as well as a wealth of digital assets designed to boost retail sales. ➡️ We offer retailers online and offline courses to become a “Certified Partner” and reap the many benefits that come with this distinction. Close to 750 specialist retailers have already done so via our Dealer Portal. In the span of only two years, this has almost doubled the size of our “Certified Partner” network. Consistency is crucial and we are happy that Oliver Piesch has been responsible for this area as Head of Retail & Service for more than eight years. He built this corporate division from scratch. Recently, we filled the position of Sales and After Sales Director with Heiko Boehle, a true industry insider with years of relevant experience. The countdown is on! The last quarter of 2023 is in full swing – and Porsche eBike Performance is still fully focused on innovation. We want our first in-house developed Porsche drive system to make a splash: in performance, design and beyond. We want to make the whole customer journey one continuous brand experience. How are we going to achieve this? ➡️ We have designed all of our development processes from the ground up to be dynamic and interdisciplinary. This ensures that key interfaces are in place from the get-go and do not need to be retrofitted later. This setup has enabled us to keep to our timeline with a projected market entry by mid-decade. ➡️ There is no single trajectory towards our goal. To reach the summit, strategic thinking and extremely creative situation handling are of the essence. In the realm of development, we can influence many, but not all parameters. That’s were our solution-oriented corporate structure comes in. ➡️ Customer focus is key – only by knowing our future target audience can we develop products that hit home. To this end, data collected through market research is just as important as one-to-one conversations and benchmarks. There are crucial insights to be had when talking to people at events, testivals or at the point of sale. ➡️ No half-measures – the world of mobility is changing at a rapid pace. One thing that is not changing is our commitment to developing outstanding products. That is what the Porsche brand has stood for for decades. Time Flies It’s been 365 days since Porsche eBike Performance was founded. And what a year it has been! We have: ➡️ acquired two companies and successfully integrated them into our corporate structure; 📈 ➡️ hired more than 100 people and introduced agile project management processes; 🚀 ➡️ thoroughly analyzed and realigned various business areas; ➡️ laid the groundwork for an expansion of our manufacturing capacities;  ➡️ made key conceptual decisions for the first Porsche e-bike drive system. These past months have been transformative for me personally as well, as my day-to-day work is now shaped by the #energy and the #challenges that arise where #international corporate structures and start-up spirit meet. Finding the happy medium is crucial – so these are my key takeaways from my first year with Porsche eBike Performance: ➡️ #Teamwork makes the dream work: without our motivated and dedicated staff, we would not have had the success that we did. That’s why we will place a strong focus on further professional development! 🚀 ➡️ A shared #vision as the foundation for a healthy corporate #culture is not a given – it needs to be created from the ground up, nurtured and honed. 💯 ➡️ A strongly growing organization needs carefully structured processes.
