Today, Motorola is rolling out its Android 11 update for the flagship Edge+. Part of the update is a new feature called Ready For, which is anything buy self-explanatory. It's basically a desktop mode for the Edge+, letting you connect the device to a TV or monitor with a USB Type-C cable or adapter.
Once you plug in your phone, you'll find that it has four modes: mobile desktop, TV, video, and game. Mobile desktop is similar to desktop modes that we've seen from companies like Microsoft, Samsung, and Huawei. It mirrors your phone's display on the bigger screen, adding support for windowed apps. It has keyboard and mouse support, and you can also use the phone as a trackpad.
Rather than turning your phone into a desktop PC, TV mode turns it into a set top box. It takes all of your video-watching apps and lets you use them to watch shows and movies. Video mode is for video calling, allowing you to actually use the rear camera as a high-res webcam. You can also switch between the available lenses. And finally, game mode will show you your games, letting you play on the larger screen with a Bluetooth controller.
The Android 11 update with Ready For is rolling out to the Edge+ now. We did ask Motorola if the Ready For feature would be coming to any other Motorola devices, but it declined to comment.
