After installing the latest system update, you can disable ALLM on PlayStation 5 if you prefer to use your own customized picture settings instead of your TV's game mode.
PlayStation 5 gained ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), or 'Auto Genre Picture Mode', in March 2022. ALLM lets your console and TV communicate to auto-switch into and out of the TV's Game Mode when playing games or watching movies.
However, owners of some TVs – in particular Sony models – complained that PS5 now locks the TV to its game mode, leaving some picture settings inaccessible.

How to switch off ALLM
If you prefer not to have PS5 switch your TV into game mode you can now disable ALLM on PS5: Settings -> Screen and Video -> Video Output -> ALLM (select 'Automatic' or 'Off').
Sony says that 'Off' will disable ALLM on PS5 in all scenarios except during VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) output.
The system update is available to download on your PS5 console now.
