Intel to increase Xe-Cores on Battlemage GPU series up to 64

According to RedGamingTech, Intel’s next-gen GPU could see a doubled core count.

As a reminder, RedGamingTech had already leaked a roadmap featuring Intel Arc GPU plans for the near future. The presentation clearly stated that the Battlemage series should launch no sooner than Q2 next year, with early enabling planned for Q1.

What is reportedly now mentioned on yet another unreleased slides, is that the Battlemage series would double the Xe-Core count compared to ACM-G10 GPU. Instead of 32, gamers could see up to 64 Xe-Cores on flagship GPU, most likely called BGM-G10.

This Battlemage GPU is also said to have a 256-bit memory bus, and 48MB of L2 cache. This means that the graphics cards based on this graphics processor could feature anything from 8, 16 or even 32GB of memory or something in-between, should Intel use a cut 192-bit memory bus instead. The L2 cache would be smaller than RTX 4080’s AD103 (64 MB), but the die size is said to be similar.

The rumors go further claiming that the clock target is around 3 GHz, but one should mention here that Intel’s GPU clock is not the same thing as NVIDIA’s Boost Clock. The RTX 40 series often hit 2.9 GHz with under light workloads and with overclocking.

The speculation points towards at least RTX 4070 Ti performance level, although it is too early to be certain. However, that would already be a GPU-class upgrade, since Arc A770 is officially targeting NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 series.

Intel is yet to launch a refresh of its Alchemist series codenamed “Alchemist+”. There should also be an update to the existing GPU series, possibly in a form of Arc A580 GPU, which for reasons unknown still has not been released. However, given how frequently Intel Arc GPUs are now getting price cuts, such SKU may not see the light after all.
