Intel Core i3-13100: no Efficient cores here

The slowest 13th Gen Core desktop CPU has now been confirmed through CPU-Z validation

Intel is indeed still making quad-core CPUs, except those are literally the lowest tier of the Core series. A part that was rumored for many weeks is now making rounds on CPU-Z validation website, partially confirming the specs.

Core i3-13100 is a quad-core CPU with eight threads, but importantly, there are no Gracemont/Small cores on this CPU. Technically, this makes 13100 the only desktop CPU from the 13th Gen Core series not to have any, but that’s not including the non-Core series.

This part has now appeared with a frequency of 3415 MHz, which is lower than expected. The predecessor called i3-12100 has a base clock of 3.3 GHz and boost up to 4.3 GHz. Therefore, one might assume that this sample did not have turbo boost enabled, and the base clock is actually faster.

According to the leaks, Core i3-13100 would be the only 60W CPU in the new series. However, this is not a Raptor Lake processor. It is believed that this entry-level CPU might be using an Alder Lake H0 die, which technically means it’s a refresh of Alder Lake Core i3-12100 SKU. This has not been confirmed though, but it makes a lot of sense.

Intel is now excepted to launch its Core non-K series either by the end of this year or at CES 2023. The launch of cheaper 13th Gen Core CPUs would be accompanied by H770 and B760 motherboard availability. In this example, an existing Gigabyte B660 Gaming X motherboard was used in combination with DDR5-4800 memory.
