NVIDIA wants to launch RTX 4060 Ti by the end of May

NVIDIA has updated the embargo information for the upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 series.

The latest update for board partners directly from NVIDIA confirms that there is no launch date set for either RTX 4060 or RTX 4060 Ti GPUs yet. The company is determined to launch the 4060 Ti variant by the end of May, but the former has does not have the embargo dates set.

The launch process for RTX 4060 Ti has already begun, and things like press/influencer list submission have already taken place. NVIDIA is yet to commence shipping the cards to the channel on May 5th, which should explain why there were no new photos or the spec leaks in the recent time.

What is also interesting is that RTX 4060 Ti will use the same board number as RTX 3060 Ti, namely the PG190. This is rarely the case with next-gen GPU upgrades, but this could potentially lead to cheaper cards. After all, RTX 40 cards need less power, so the cooling suitable for RTX 3060Ti should also work for the 4060 series. However, the RTX 4060 non-Ti appears to use a new board called PG173.

  • GeForce RTX 4060 Ti: PG190 SKU 361
  • GeForce RTX 4060: PG173 SKU 371

NVIDIA has not yet mentioned any price to board partners, so anything you hear elsewhere is pure speculation. However, the use of older PG190 board, limited memory spec to 128-bit bus and PCIe Gen4 to eight lanes could indicate that we are finally looking at a budget RTX 40 Ada graphics card. Hopefully, NVIDIA sees those SKUs the same way that we do.
