NVIDIA RTX 4070 non-Ti now has a launch date

Hardware leaker hongxing2020 shares first information on GeForce RTX 4070 launch date.

We have already revealed that a fourth installment in the desktop NVIDIA RTX 40 series is set to launch in April. However, the early embargo information did not have any details on the exact date, as those are typically clarified later. According to the hardware leaker hongxing2020, who had correctly revealed RTX 30 and RTX 40 SKU launch dates before, the RTX 4070 is now set to launch on April 13th (Thursday).

The RTX 4070 non-Ti is reportedly based on the same GPU as the RTX 4070 Ti, which is AD104, but with fewer cores. It is said that RTX 4070 might feature 5888 CUDA cores, representing a 1792 cut from the full die used by the Ti model. The fact that RTX 4070 uses AD104-250/251 GPU variant is also pretty much confirmed at this point thanks to leaked photos of this die specifically.

The good news is that RTX 4070 should launch with the same memory specs as its Ti sibling. That said, gamers should expect 12GB GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit interface. It was also mentioned that RTX 4070 should have a TDP of 200W, so a lot less than RTX 4070 Ti (285W), but keep in mind TDPs do not always correlate with real-world power consumption, especially when NVIDIA Ada architecture is considered.

The company is now gradually moving down the lineup to cheaper models, as existing RTX 30 stock is depleting. Just yesterday we reported that NVIDIA has delisted its RTX 30 Founders Edition SKUs from official stores. A clear indicator that a successor is coming. We expect updates on RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 series in the following weeks as well, however NVIDIA has no official embargo on those models yet.

It is also worth reminding that NVIDIA CEO will soon take the stage at GTC on March 21st. It would be reasonable to expect a short segment on updates to GeForce RTX 40 products.
