AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D coming at CES 2023 in three variants

QuasarZone team has just finished their special coverage on Ryzen 7000X3D series. They confirmed that AMD will indeed launch a 16-core X3D part.

Contrary to earlier reports, AMD is indeed developing Ryzen 7000X3D processors with more than 8-cores. It is said that AMD Ryzen CPUs equipped with 3D V-Cache will come in 8-core, 12-core and 16-core variants. What is reported is that those processors would retain similar clock speeds to existing parts without 3D V-Cache. This would imply clocks reaching possibly as high as 5.7 GHz.

At least three sources have now came forward to claim that AMD will launch Ryzen 9 7950X3D with 16 cores, Ryzen 9 7900X3D with 12 cores and Ryzen 7 SKU with 8-cores. The third part could be either 7700X3D or 7800X3D. There is reportedly no 6-core part with 3D V-Cache.

Twitter user @harukaze5719 summarized QuasarZone’s 1-hour long video (which is in Korean):

With the additional cache, new Ryzen 9 X3D parts would feature up to 192MB of L3 buffer. This is twice as much as existing Ryzen 7 5800X3D, thus far the only AMD processors with this technology.

According to Wccftech that all three SKUs are to have the same TDP at 170W, this means that the 8-core CPU will have higher TDP than the 7700X at 105W. Currently, it is not clear if upcoming X3D parts would support overclocking like the original SKUs. This feature is limited on the Zen3 SKUs.

AMD Ryzen 7000X3D series are reportedly launching in January 2023, which implies formal announcement at CES 2023. Pricing should be similar to existing SKUs without 3D V-Cache, but this shouldn’t really surprise anyone considering Zen4 desktop CPUs are already heavily discounted.
