UNDO DELETE MESSAGE

Some days ago, we posted an article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.18.13 update: it brings the ability to recover messages deleted by mistake when you tap “delete for me” instead of “delete for everyone”. It seems that WhatsApp started developing this feature after posting a tweet that mentions the ability to use an undo feature… or is it a coincidence? It does not mind so much since it is more important what we have to announce today: after releasing the feature to some beta testers on WhatsApp beta for Android, WhatsApp is finally ready to enable the same feature on iOS beta!

As you can see in this screenshot, when a message is deleted by using the option “delete for me”, a snackbar shows up by informing the user that the message has been deleted. In this case, it is possible to restore it by tapping “undo” so the fastest way to check if the feature is available for your account is to delete a message for you. Obviously, if the snackbar disappears and you don’t use the undo feature, you won’t be able to recover deleted messages later. In addition, the snackbar doesn’t show up for messages deleted for everyone, at the moment.
You should be able to get the feature by updating WhatsApp to the 22.18.0.70 beta available on TestFlight but if the snackbar doesn’t show up, don’t worry: WhatsApp is used to releasing features to certain beta testers day by day, so you should be able to use the undo feature when the next updates will be available over the coming weeks.
