Intel launch plans to include two major refreshes
Upcoming launch schedule including client and workstation products has been published by ECSM.
According to ECSM, a Chinese media known mainly for its leaks featuring unreleased hardware, Intel plans for the next 12 months will include at least two major product refreshes. It is not just the Raptor Lake Refresh for client desktop platform now being considered, but also Sapphire Rapids Refresh for the next Xeon W2500/W3500 series.
Although Raptor Lake Refresh, aka 14th Gen Core series has been mentioned by many leakers before, some even this week, the fact that Intel would even consider refreshing its workstation HEDT platform has not been mentioned before.
Rumored Intel Launch Schedule:
- Raptor Lake Refresh-K: October 2023
- Raptor Lake Refresh non-K: November/December 2023
- Sapphire Rapids Refresh: early 2024 (Xeon W2500/W3500)
- Meteor Lake-H: Q4 2023
- Meteor Lake-S: Canceled
- Arrow Lake-S: Q4/2024 – Q1/2025
The leaker adds that Raptor Lake Refresh will be supported by all Intel 600 and 700 motherboards, which will extend the lifespan of the LGA1700 platform by at least another year. The same would apply to Xeon W-2500 and W-3500 series which would also be a drop-in replacement for the W790 platform.
With Meteor Lake-S being effectively canceled, there will be no true client desktop update until at least Q4 2024, which is when Arrow Lake-S is said to be arriving at soonest, claims the source. This would also mean no Intel Core branding update would apply to the desktop platform until that time.
