The Entire Super Mario Bros. Movie Leaked on Twitter

The Super Mario Bros. Movie recently leaked in its entirety on Twitter of all places. An account with around 1.1 million followers uploaded the full movie in two parts to the social media platform, which was achieved through the Blue subscription’s ability to upload one-hour videos. This has raised some concerns regarding Twitter’s measures to prevent piracy and misuse of its various tools to further enable it.

As reported by Forbes, a Twitter account with over a million followers recently uploaded the entire Super Mario Bros. Movie to the platform in two parts, each coming in at just under an hour. When users purchase Twitter Blue, it comes with a range of perks and access to tools that aren’t available on the “free” version, which includes the ability to upload one-hour videos. This allowed the leaker to upload the movie in two parts.

The video was swiftly removed from Twitter but not before it amassed over 9 million views. Apparently it was also a high-quality version of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It’s unclear if the “vids that go hard” Twitter account responsible for the leak will face suspension or a ban. Many users are now questioning Twitter’s ability to prevent piracy as this could become a recurring problem for the platform if it doesn’t put more stringent measures in place.

The leak hasn’t stopped the movie from accumulating over $1 billion at the global box office. Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto is pretty happy about those results, stating:

“You need some luck to achieve this level of success for a film. While many foreign critics have given the movie relatively low ratings, I think that also contributed to the movie’s notoriety and buzz.”

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is still circling cinemas worldwide and it’s well worth a trip to the movies.
