Intel’s new Core i9-14900K “Raptor Lake Refresh” CPU shows up on Geekbench

Intel Core i9-14900K tested in Geekbench

The upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh top SKU scores over 3.1K points in single-core Geekbench test.

Intel is in the final stages of preparing its upcoming lineup of Core K-Series CPUs, codenamed Raptor Lake Refresh. Among these, the flagship SKU scheduled for release in September is Core i9-14900K. Recently, this particular processor underwent testing on Geekbench, signaling its readiness for launch.

The key specifications of this CPU include 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores. Notably, it’s only the second Intel CPU to achieve a CPU clock speed exceeding 6.0 GHz thanks to Thermal Velocity Boost technology (alongside i9-13900KS Special Edition). Additionally, the tests were conducted on a Biostar Z790 SILVER motherboard, reaffirming the full compatibility of this processor with upcoming motherboards in its class.

The CPU scores 3121 and 19032 points in Geekbench 6.1 benchmark, respectively, in single-core and multi-core tests:

According to official Geekbench benchmark charts, the Core i9-14900K exhibits higher performance than Core i9-13900K, but only when the single-core test is considered in this case. In multi-core tests, it appears to lag behind the 13900K. However, the 14900K CPU demonstrates approximately a 6% improvement in single-core benchmarks.

Several factors need consideration when interpreting these findings. Firstly, the Core i9-14900K dataset is notably smaller, which can introduce variability in the results. Secondly, the motherboard used for testing may not be fully optimized for this specific CPU, potentially affecting its performance. Lastly, it’s worth noting that the CPU was paired with DDR5-4800 memory, which could have an impact on overall system performance. These nuances highlight the importance of considering various factors when assessing CPU performance.

The Core i9-14900K, along with the i7-14700K and i5-14600K, are set to be unveiled this month, but the launch is not expected until October.
