The latest information suggests that the upcoming iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro could launch without any physical SIM card tray in France later this year. The information is coming from iGeneration, a French publication. This would not be the first time the iPhone 14 launched without any physical SIM slot in the U.S.

In the past, Apple has cited that eSIMs are a lot more secure as you do not have to worry about the SIM getting removed from the phone in case it gets stolen or lost. That is why all iPhone 14 models launched in the U.S. were without any physical SIM card slot. If the iPhone 15 launches without a SIM card slot in France, this means that we can expect the same for the rest of Europe since Apple normally keeps a single model for all regions in Europe. So, you could expect all other regions to have SIM-less variants, which is not really a bad thing considering how eSIM is the future.
iPhone 15 series will become the second generation of iPhone to launch without any SIM-card slot, at least in some regions. In case you are not aware, iPhones can have up to eight eSIMs that you can go ahead and manage in your phone's settings. This might seem like a useless feature, but it is excellent for those who are frequent travelers as they no longer have to keep swapping the SIMs physically. Just shift to a different eSIM when you are in a new region.
Apple removing the physical SIM slot from the iPhone 15 series does not seem like a surprise to me, at least. The move first started with the iPhone 14, and given that phone's success in the world over, it is safe to say that Apple is going to keep expanding. This new rumor also means that the new iPhones in the U.S. will also be without a physical SIM tray. Considering how Apple removed it last year, it makes little to no sense for the company to add it again.
