Intel Core i5-14600KF tested in Geekbench

Thus begins the season of leaks for Intel’s latest generation of desktop CPUs. It is evident that the series has recently been dispatched to OEMs, who wasted no time in putting the chips to the test. With the existing LGA1700 platform already supporting the new CPU series, there are no barriers preventing these leaks from emerging at this moment.

In this instance, we are presented with an ASUS Z790 motherboard paired with 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, alongside Intel’s fresh 14-core processor named the Core i5-14600KF. The nomenclature of the SKU suggests the absence of integrated graphics support; however, this should have no impact on the test. The Geekbench data output displays the clock speeds, confirming the 5.3 GHz frequency as previously rumored. This essentially indicates a 200 MHz augmentation over the i5-13600K CPU from the current generation.

The CPU achieves a score of 2794 points in the single-core test and 17190 points in the multi-core test, as assessed by the updated Geekbench 6.1 version. This signifies a 5.5% improvement in single-core performance and a 17.2% enhancement in multi-core performance compared to the Core i5-13600K.

However, the max turbo clock increase in frequency alone cannot entirely account for this rise in performance. It appears that there might be additional factors influencing the outcome. It’s plausible that all cores are now capable of operating at higher speeds, or there might be variations in the benchmarking methodology that contribute to these results.

Intel is set to unveil its 14th Gen Core K series in September, at least six new CPUs are to be released, including K and KF models. The new wave of Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs that will all feature a higher clock compared to existing 13th Gen Core CPUs by 100 to 200 MHz. The exact details on PBP (base power), MTB (turbo boost power) and pricing remain unconfirmed.
