NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti GPU has been pictured up close

A quick comparison shows that AD104 is half the size of AD102.

NVIDIA’s 104-class GPU has finally been pictured. One might say that this is a long-overdue leak because the RTX 4080 12GB (which was supposed to launch last month) was confirmed to feature exactly this variant of the processor. However, NVIDIA is now planning to re-release the same GPU under a different SKU called RTX 4070 Ti, except it is launching 2 months later.

The AD104-400 pictured below, should be the full-fat variant with all 60 Streaming Multiprocessors enabled. This means up to 7680 CUDA cores, 240 Tensor cores and 60 cores for ray tracing. That is indeed more cores than RTX 3070 Ti based on full GA104-400 GPU. The AD104 GPU will make use of TSMC 4N custom node.

It is estimated that the GPU is around 295 mm² in size, meaning it should be half as big as the flagship AD102 GPU. That’s also ~100 mm² smaller area than GA104 GPU.  The AD104 will not only have fewer cores, but also a shorter memory bus. For RTX 4070 Ti that’s 192-bit wide bus supporting memory configurations such as 6GB or 12GB.

The RTX 4070 Ti is now set to launch on January 5th, however this shouldn’t be the only graphics card based on AD104 GPU coming early next year. NVIDIA should also launch its mobile RTX 40 series, which will make use of AD103, AD104 and AD106 GPUs for its gaming-capable models.
