There is no doubt that Apple products are expensive and hold value pretty well over time. This makes them a lucrative target for burglars and thieves. Scroll down to read more details on the incident.

Burglars stole almost $500,000 worth of iPhones, Apple Watches, and iPads from the Apple Store in Washington, Macs untouched

The story was reported by KOMO News, stating that the incident took place on a Sunday. The Alderwood Mall Apple Store was closed when the burglary took place. The entire operation was clean, and employees were unaware of it until the next morning. The robbers did not enter the store through the front but created an entry from an adjoining bathroom wall of an espresso machine outlet. The entry through the espresso store was conducted through the front door as thieves pried open the door.

Once the burglars gained entry into the espresso store, they cut through the wall of the bathroom that lead straight to the Apple Store. According to the news outlet, the burglars cut a 24 by 18 hole into the wall that opened in the back room of the Apple Store. The entire operation was seamless as the robbers took almost 436 iPhone models and an unknown number of Apple Watch and iPads. Altogether, almost $500,000 worth of Apple products were stolen from the Apple Store. It appears that the robbers did not steal any Macs, potentially due to their size and maneuverability.

The regional manager of the coffee machine outlet stated that they were surprised to know that the Apple Store was this near to them. The stolen Apple products will be potentially sold to buyers. However, if Apple has updated its inventory, the IMEI and serial numbers associated with the stolen products will be blocked. Once this is done, the buyers will no longer be able to activate the devices, rendering them useless.

According to Maren McKay, LPD communications manager, the operation was well-organized, and the burglars wore masks and gloves to not leave a trace behind. The investigation is still under process, and details about the operation will be shared shortly. We also recently reported how a customer was robbed outside of the Apple Watch.
