Seagate has officially entered the PCIe Gen 5 industry with its new FireCuda 540 Gen 5 SSD, promising high read and write speeds.

The FireCuda 540 has yet to be officially announced by the company itself. However, Amazon UK and B&H Photo listings have provided detailed information about the drive. The FireCuda 540 comes with 1TB and 2TB storage options with a sequential read and write speeds rate at 9500 MB/s and 10,000 MB/s, respectively. The listings reveal that the Seagate FireCuda 540 SSD will feature 1.5 million random IOPS and is rated for 2,000 terabytes to be written (TBW) under its 5-year warranty period. This FireCuda 540 is designed to provide consumers with endurance without comprising the drive's performance which is why a three-year Seagate's Rescue Data Recovery service subscription is included.
The Seagate 540 SSDs will be available in both heatsink and heatsink-less flavors. The heatsink SSD will obviously cost a bit extra. For its pricing, B&H Photo has listed the 1 TB variant for $189.99 and US$319,99 for the 2 TB, making it one of the budget-focused options in the PCIe Gen 5 lineup.
The drive's performance isn't as high as with the Galax HOF Extreme 50 or the Sabrent's Rocket X5 lineup. However, it is decent enough for an average consumer.
The FireCuda 540 has not yet received an official launch from Seagate, but based on the listing on retail platforms, it won't be long. The company is also expected to unveil a 4mTB version of the FireCuda 540
