As expected, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has become one of the most leaked devices of this year, and for all the right reasons. Samsung's upcoming flagship foldable has big shoes to fill because the landscape has changed drastically, and there are several other players in the field. We have seen how the phone looks numerous times in unofficial and official renders, and today, we have some pictures from the real world, and they confirm one gripe that almost everyone has had with the phone.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 will not have any gap between the display when folded, and sadly no IP58 dust and water resistant rating
Tipster Ahmed Qwaider posted a picture of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in the wild, and the images finally show a major thing that most people have been wondering. The gap between the two displays is finally gone, giving you a completely flush phone when you close it. You can look at how this looks below; honestly, it is a lot cleaner this way and safer, too, since it closes a central point of ingress.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 disappointingly looks a lot like its predecessor except for some changes that can be evident when you look at the phone from the back. In addition to that, you can also see how the gap is gone, which is an excellent thing, but this does raise another question, and that is whether or not the display will be touching itself when the phone is folded. Now, the reason why I am mentioning this is that the Pixel Fold also does not have a gap when it is closed. However, the lip around the bezel is so thin that the screen ends up touching itself when the phone is folded, which could end up causing damage - if something gets stuck in the middle.
Sadly, we won't know how the Galaxy Z Fold 5 handles this issue, but considering how the phone is launching by the end of this month, you can expect a lot of details in the weeks following up to the release. Another thing to know here is that the phone is not going to bring any IP58 dust and water resistance that we thought, as renowned tipster Ice Universe has confirmed that, which means you are probably just getting the IPX8 resistance.
Another bad news is that the Galaxy Z Fold5 does not meet the IP58 dust-proof standard.

Although the phone looks like it is going to sport all the flagship specs, and that is a great thing at this point, Samsung needs to offer more than just the numbers. Because, let's admit it, other foldable phones out there are innovating, and even the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is coming with one of the biggest changes in the foldable space. So I am really concerned about what Samsung will have to offer with its own foldable.
