NVIDIA preparing GeForce GTX 1630 graphics card, its first GTX x30 model

NVIDIA could soon launch GeForce GTX 1630

NVIDIA set to introduce GeForce GTX 1630 to combat the entry-level offer from AMD.

The GTX 1630 could be the first x30 model in the GTX series. Thus far we have seen cards such as GT 730 or GT 1030, but those are very old solutions already. Meanwhile, NVIDIA’s latest GTX Turing card, the 1650, was released in April 2019, so more than 3 years ago.

With the surging GPU prices, NVIDIA has seemingly abandoned the low-end market. The company launched its RTX 3050 desktop card in January this year, so 14 months after the first Ampere models made a debut. However, with its 249 USD launch price and over 330 USD actual retail price, this model is still out of reach for many gamers.

AMD, who released Radeon RX 6500XT and RX 6400 cards around the same time, know that NVIDIA has a problem with the low-end GPU market. The company recently launched a marketing campaign demonstrating AMD Radeon RX 6000 series value in comparison to GeForce RTX 30, GTX 16/10 series. Here, in the low-end market, the gap between AMD and NVIDIA pricing is much noticeable, especially considering that those cards were not designed for heavy, ray-traced-packed gaming.

According to our information, GeForce GTX 1630 is set to replace GTX 1050 Ti, so it would likely cost less than 190 USD (that’s also the current price of GTX 1650). At the moment, the specs of GTX 1630 are unknown, but one could expect a TU117 (Turing) model with sub 75W power requirement and updated GDDR6 memory. The GTX 1650 series feature as many as five models already, including TU106, TU116 and TU117 based and even a SUPER variant. However, not all of these cards are available in every market and the same principle could apply to GTX 1630.

The information about GTX 1630 has only been available for a couple of days, but we have double-confirmed that it is indeed planned.
