Intel’s new Arc graphics driver delivers 271-313%+ uplift in Assassin’s Creed Unity
Nearly a 9-year-old game gets a massive performance boost on Intel Arc GPUs.
Intel has released a new BETA driver (31.0.101.4514) focusing on further game optimizations. Interestingly, it has no bug fixes listed at all, and the ‘known issue’ list is still quite long. Intel’s goal for this driver to provide ‘Game-On’ support for two games: AEW: Fight Forever, Layers of Fear. More importantly, this driver brings a massive performance uplift to one of the very popular DirectX11 games: Assassin’s Creed Unity.
As mentioned, this game is already old and there were numerous AC games released since then. As we know, Intel Arc graphics are optimized for the latest APIs, such as DirectX12 or Vulkan and the company was pretty straightforward that Arc GPUs may not be the best choice for games using older APIs. However, Intel has is putting significant effort to optimize their graphics for the most popular games in recent history, including the AC series.

- Up to 271% uplift at 1080p with Very High settings
- Up to 313% uplift at 1440p with High settings
- F1 22 (DX12)
- Up to 36% uplift at 1080p with High settings
- Up to 20% uplift at 1440p with High settings
- Up to 10% uplift at 1080p with Ultra High settings and all Ray Tracing settings on
- Deathloop (DX12)
- Up to 10% uplift at 1080p with Ultra settings
- Up to 8% uplift at 1440p with Very High settings
This driver also brings small improvements into F1 22 and Deathloop, both are DX12 games and there is an 8% to 36% boost to be expected depending on a resolution. Those results were achieved on a Core i9-13900K system paired with Intel Arc A750 Limited Edition. Those gains are in comparison to the previous WHQL release (4502).
