Intel Core i5-14400 with 10 cores

The new information on Intel 14th Gen Core non-K series has been outed by chi11eddog, who happens to have reliable information on unreleased Intel and AMD hardware.

Contrary to previous reports, the Core i5-1440 will not have 14 cores, but instead retain 10 cores, just like the current generation. The leaker has provided a brief overview of the specifications for the upcoming Core non-K series, scheduled for release early next year.

As we know, the Core non-K models are lower-clocked and lower-power versions of the K-series, which typically debut earlier. The forthcoming refresh of the Raptor Lake series, known as the 14th Gen Core series, is expected to introduce the 14900K, 14700K, and 14600K models around October. However, the company also plans to launch additional models without the K branding, indicating a 65W TDP and reduced overclocking potential early next year.

The leaker confirms that the Core i7-14700 will feature 20 cores, just like the 14700K, representing the most significant upgrade for the new series. Previous reports suggest that the i5-14400 and i3-14100 might also receive similar upgrades with more cores than the current lineup. While the latter part is still unconfirmed, there appears to be an agreement that the i5-14400 will use 6 Performance and 4 Efficient cores, matching its predecessor’s core count.

In terms of base frequency and L3 cache sizes, there don’t appear to be any major changes for the 14th Gen series, except for the 14700(K) model, which boasts a 33MB L3 cache due to its increased core count. Additionally, the Core i5-14500 will have a 2.6 GHz P-Core base frequency, slightly improving from the current lineup’s 2.5 GHz. Sadly, there is no mention of boosts clocks, but those should be similar to the K-series, which are reportedly around 200 MHz higher than the current lineup.

The Core non-K series should become available in Q1 next year, which is most likely the last major update for the LGA-1700 platform from Intel. Regarding pricing, it is expected that Intel will not introduce significant changes to the pricing of the new series.
