Here is how you can set your iPhone or iPad display to never ever turn off except when you press the sleep / wake button.
Set Your iPhone to iPad Display to Never Turn off on its Own with a Couple of Taps
Buy any computer or mobile device right now and it is common among them all that the display turns off automatically after a certain amount of time or lack of inactivity. If you are using an iPhone or iPad, it is the same story here as well.
But, if you want, you can have the display to never ever turn off on your iPhone and iPad. It will only go dark if you press the sleep / wake button on the device. This is handy for situations where you want to keep a sharp eye on something and constantly tapping on the display to keep it awake is not an option for you.
Keep one thing in mind: having the display constantly turned on will take a toll on battery life and the display hardware itself. It is a good practice to keep the display turned off whenever not in use. If you understand this completely and still want to go ahead with it then follow the steps below.

Step 1. Launch the Settings app from the Home Screen of your iPhone and iPad
Step 2. Scroll down and tap on Display & Brightness
Step 3. Select Auto-Lock
Step 4. Set the value to Never
If you want to reverse the change, simply follow the steps above once and again and select the original value which was anything else apart from Never.
Again, I want to make it clear that this will hurt battery life a lot and will decrease the life of the display hardware. If you have an OLED display iPhone, then having the display constantly turned on may lead to burn-in. If you want to avoid all of this, then please set the timer to anything else other than Never.
