Apple is working on a wide range of products with upgraded internals. The company is expected to announce new Macs with M3 chips later this year with an M3 chip based on TSMC's 3nm process. The chip will deliver faster computational and graphical performance with enhanced power efficiency. While Apple's M3 chip will make a debut later this year on MacBook Air and iMac, the next-in-line OLED iPad Pro models will have to wait until next year.

It was previously reported that Apple's iPad Pro models with an OLED display will launch sometime next year. While the news still stands, the device will be powered by the company's in-house M3 chip. As mentioned earlier, the company is also planning to use the same chip in its upcoming 13.6-inch MacBook Air, 13.3-inch MacBook Pro, and iMac. The news was shared by Mark Gurman in his new Power On newsletter.

The report also mentions that Apple is working on a new variant of the iPad Air with an M2 chip for enhanced performance capabilities. Currently, the iPad Air 5 is powered by the M2 chip. if the news has any heft to it, the OLED iPad Pro will create wider differentiating elements from the iPad Air. One of the major differentiating features will be the new OLED display for enhanced color accuracy, wider dynamic range, and deeper blacks.

While OLED iPad Pro models are one of the highly anticipated devices in the category, the company is also working on its custom microLED displays for the future. It was previously reported that the company will debut the microLED displays in 2027 and the Apple Watch Ultra will be the first device to get it. After the Apple Watch Ultra, the company will transition its entire product lineup to microLED which includes iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Apple's microLED panels will offer the benefits of both LED and OLED panels with higher contrast ratio, deeper blacks, higher brightness levels, and most of all, power efficiency. With less power consumption, the devices could feature better battery life. However, it is not clear when Apple will release an iPad Pro model with a microLED display.

With an M3 chip, the OLED iPad Pro will deliver enhanced performance and better battery life. Apple is porting high-end software from macOS to iPadOS, such as Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro. With the M3 chip, the performance gap will be filled, and the entire user experience will be smooth. The analyst mentions that the OLED iPad Pro models will be released sometime next year, but no exact time frame has been mentioned. We suspect that the devices could arrive at the company's Spring event.
