Radeon RX 7000 series are complete, confirms Radeon Chief
After the Gamescom product announcement, Scott Herkleman (AMD’s Senior Vice President & General Manager Graphics Business Unit) sat down for a quick chat to talk about these products.
Yesterday, AMD unveiled its latest additions to the lineup: the Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT, targeted at the high-end market with respective price points of $499 and $449. Notably, AMD has chosen not to bridge the gap between the RX 7700 XT and RX 7600 models, which are priced at $269. This decision has been confirmed by Herkelman.
During the discussion, Scott was questioned about the future of RDNA3. Specifically, he was asked whether AMD had plans for additional RDNA3 products or if something else was on the horizon. Surprisingly, it appears that the RDNA3 series might be reaching its conclusion. AMD has indicated that there are no plans for new ASICs within this generation, and the entire lineup has now been finalized.
There is still a possibility that AMD may release some different versions along the way, but given the wording about the completion of the RDNA3 lineup, this likely means the end of major releases for this generation.

Mace (host): You have launched 7700 XT and 7800 XT. Is that going to complete the RDNA3 portfolio or is there maybe more on the horizon?
Scott: Well, the RDNA3 portfolio is now complete. Of all products that we have planned to launch, that is, this is the last few products that we will launch. We may have some different versions, but they are not a new ASIC. […] It’s been a journey, it’s been about a year since we launched the very first RDNA3 and now we are a year later finishing up the series. We should be done, we are done and we are excited. And now I think we have a broad spectrum covered for people who want RDNA3 up and down the price tag.
Following this statement, a question arises concerning the fate of the Radeon RX 7000M mobile series. AMD has thus far introduced only four entry-level models utilizing the Navi 33 GPU. There had been speculation about the potential use of a smaller Navi 31 chip (similar to the one found in the RX 7900 GRE) for mobile devices. Additionally, the Navi 32 was highly anticipated as part of the RX 7800M series, offering mobile gamers an alternative to the GeForce RTX 40 series. Regrettably, it appears that this may not be the case, or perhaps Scott unintentionally omitted mentioning the existence of new mobile Radeon GPUs.
At present, the lineup consists of five global models, along with the RX 7900 GRE, which is presently confined to the do-it-yourself (DIY) market in China.
