While all eyes are currently on iOS 16, Apple is also maintaining iOS 15, with a new update going live only a few minutes ago.

iOS 15.7.1 is therefore available for download right now, and according to Apple itself, it comes with a security patch.

The changelog reveals that “this update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users.” No further specifics have been offered, so it’s safe to assume that this is more or less an emergency patch that comes to resolve a security vulnerability.

While iOS 16 is only available to iPhone 8 and newer, iOS 15 supports the iPhone 6s and later, so this new update is shipped to all of them. In other words, if you’re currently using an older iPhone, you should get this patch as soon as possible.

iOS 16.1 also live for supported iPhones

A few days ago, Apple shipped a big update for iOS 16 as well.

iOS 16.1 includes Fitness+ support for all iPhones users, even without the need for an Apple Watch (previously, the service required the smartwatch).

“With iOS 16.1, Fitness+ will be fully integrated with the Fitness app and located in the middle tab, where users can already stay motivated to close their Move ring through coaching, awards, activity sharing, and more. Users only need an iPhone to sign up, and can then experience Fitness+ on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Fitness+ subscribers without Apple TV can use AirPlay to stream workouts or meditations on compatible third-party devices, and all AirPlay-enabled Roku devices will see onscreen metrics for additional motivation next month,” Apple explained.

Needless to say, as we mentioned above, only the iPhone 8 and newer can download iOS 16 and the later updates, while everybody else is stuck with iOS 15.
